"FIRST EDITION" is stated on the copyright page. Boards are red with design in black, and a top stain. Dust jacket has a photo of the author on the back. Back dust jacket flap does not say "PRINTED IN U.S.A." on the bottom. There are no reviews, no references to reviews, and no mention of the Pulitzer Prize anywhere on the dust jacket.
The dust jacket was designed by John O'Hara Cosgrave II, who also designed the dust jacket for James A. Michener's Tales of the South Pacific. The book was designed by William Addison Dwiggins, a well known type designer, calligrapher, and book designer who also designed the Electra and Caledonia typefaces.
The Town book won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
