Copyright page has number line "1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2". Boards are Light gray with khaki cloth spine and copper lettering. Book is 9.25 inches high. Back of dust jacket has four reviews - by The New York Times, Newsweek, Esquire, and The New York Review of Books.
Warning: The book club edition has a copyright page that is identical to the true first edition with the same number line. However the book is smaller (around 8 inches tall) and the boards are all paper (no cloth spine.) The book club dust jacket is also identical to the true first edition with the same four reviews on the back. But like most book club editions, it lacks a price on the front flap.
Middlesex book won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. This book is also an Oprah's Book Club selection.
